Let’s Play ball distribution well under way
The distribution process in SuperSport’s Let’s Play a Million campaign, in conjunction with Unicef and the Department of Education is well under way with the first batch of the 100 000 soccer balls being dispersed last year to selected recipients and to the most vulnerable primary schools in South Africa. Various studies have illustrated that using recreation, sport and play to engage young people offers viable alternatives to risky behavior for our youth.
Access is once again participating in this worthy initiative. A further shipment of 55 000 balls as part of the 2nd phase of this project arrived recently at Access.
“Access is proud to be involved and contributing towards the Let’s Play initiative that tackles the need to get our children involved in sport,” said Garth. “The Access values are Fair Play, Team Spirit and Innovation, the Let’s Play initiative supports these values and Access is very happy to play an important part in supplying logistics services for the “million soccer balls” that need to be delivered to the children.”

Recently Access hosted a small event to distribute some of the balls to under privileged children. Both SuperSport and Fedex representatives were in attendance along with Neil Tovey and a few Amazulu FC soccer stars! The children from Alipore Primary School in Merebank, Durban were in awe of the soccer players and absolutely loved the experience.
“We raised 100 000 balls last year and so we are now on our way to our target of at least a million balls by 2010,” said Let’s Play’s Vaughn Bishop. “The balls and the complementary coaching programmes are making a significant difference to the lives of thousands of kids.”
‘The Let’s Play a Million initiative intends to change the mindset of our children and similarly create purpose and hope,” said Vaughn Bishop.
